Application Requirement of DSU Scholarship (2024-2025)

By the DSU call’s deadline, only online applications via Sportello Students will be accepted (usually published every year in July). The application can still be submitted if the applicant hasn’t started classes yet. The grant’s validity covers only one academic year. Students must therefore apply again each academic year.

2-Non-EU students from developing countries.

Students from non-EU developing nations must certify that their families are not well-off or of high social standing. This certification needs to be approved by one of the organizations listed below:

• Italian diplomatic representatives in the home country;
• Diplomatic representative body (Embassy or Consulate) of the country of origin in Italy.

3- Other Non-EU students

All documents must be translated into Italian and legalized by the appropriate Italian diplomatic representatives of the student’s home country or by the international legalization requirements. These documents must be related to:

• Family status
• Income
• Real estate
• Movable assets

1-Family Status Certificate for DSU Scholarship

• Special situations
• Students with divorced parents: students will need to attach the divorce certificate or a document issued by the Court attesting to the parents’ ongoing separation;
• Students with dead parents: students will need to attach the death certificate, to be submitted only on the first application;
• Students whom their father has not acknowledged: students will need to attach their birth certificate;
• Students abandoned by a parent: a statement by competent authorities is needed;
• Presence of a tutor in the household: the instrument of appointment of the tutor by the competent authority is needed;
• Both parents died: the death certificates of both parents need to be submitted on the first application;
• Presence of married adult siblings in the household: a marriage certificate is needed; alternatively, the siblings’ marital status has to be specified in the family status certificate;
• Presence of adult siblings who do not reside with the original family in the family status certificate: the residence certificate of the siblings is needed; alternatively, the situation can be specified in the family status certificate.

2-Income Certificate for DSU Scholarship

Reporting the gross income (including taxes) of employee compensation and/or retirement provisions for each legal family member for the year. This document was released by the public administration’s competent authority.

Special situations:

Students will need to submit one of the following documents if they don’t have the aforementioned document:

1-Certificate issued by an employer reporting the total wages for the full year (January to December), including taxes;

2-Last paycheck (December), including the total income for the full year;

 3-All 12 paychecks of the year if the total income is not indicated in the last paycheck. Legal members of the family without an income:

Student: certificate of enrolment at a university or other Institution.

Unemployed member: certificate of unemployment or statement of unemployment in the family status certificate.

Stay-at-home mother: this condition can be certified in the family status certificate;

Income obtained in Italy (also by the student and/or their siblings): either the CUD 2020 (wage and tax statement) or the 2020 tax return forms must be submitted.

3-Buildings

Certification of all the buildings owned by every family member by the end of December; the surface in square meters must be indicated.

Residential house:

Homeownership: ownership certificate including surface measurement data;

Loan for use: the document that certifies that the owner does not belong to the family unit;

Regular rental agreement: lease contract valid until the date of expiry of the public announcement;

Absence of the abovementioned documents: certificate of non-ownership of the family members.

Other buildings:

All ownership certificates have to be submitted.

Movable property

Certificates issued by banks and financial institutions regarding: bank accounts, any kind of deposit, credit cards and/or pre-paid cards, shares and bonds, and securities in general owned by every family member by the end of December.

It is mandatory to submit movable property certificates in the following situations:

• The presence of bank accounts detectable from the income statements;
• Self-employed persons with tax liabilities;
• Presence of a bank account and/or a pre-paid card owned by the student or other members of the family in Italy.

How much is the DSU Scholarship?

After passing the first stage and providing the documents to receive the scholarship, the scholarship amount will be deposited into your account.
