The 2024–2025 International Peace Scholarship for Women- P.E.O to Study in Canada and the U.S.A. is now accepting applications. This program, established in 1949, helps a select group of women from other nations pursue master’s or doctoral degrees in the United States and Canada.

(Philanthropic Educational Organization) is a global women’s organization with about 230,000 members based in the U.S. that primarily focuses on giving female students worldwide access to educational opportunities. Seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, founded P.E.O. on January 21, 1869.

Through scholarships, awards, grants, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College, the organization seeks to educate women and inspire them to pursue their highest aspirations. The organization’s educational support initiatives have benefited more than 113,000 women. What is P.E.O. Scholarship?

P.E.O. is a charitable organization that encourages women to achieve their goals by recognizing their accomplishments, educating them through awards, grants, loans, and scholarships, and managing Cottey College.

Benefits of P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship for Women

A student can receive a maximum of $12,500. Individual needs may dictate the awarding of smaller sums. Scholarships are awarded as GRANTS-IN-AID and are not meant to pay for all living or educational costs. A scholarship winner enrolled in graduate school is qualified to apply for one scholarship renewal. She is only eligible for two years of scholarship support. The total combined I.P.S. support will not go over $25,000.

The applicant must submit a budget of estimated expenses and all anticipated additional financial resources at the time of application. Personal and family funds, tuition reimbursements, work scholarships, teaching assistantships, study grants, other scholarships, and loans are “additional financial resources.” It is not necessary to confirm additional financial resources when the budget is submitted.

Eligibility of P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship for Women

You must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible for this scholarship to study in Canada and the United States:

  1. Be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study and work toward a graduate degree in an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.
  2. Be able to submit a copy of the applicant’s confirmation of admission with the application. This notice must specify the graduate degree program. No consideration will be given to applicants lacking evidence of admission.
  3. Be a student who is not a citizen, a permanent United States or Canadian resident. A student with residency for tax purposes only is permitted.
  4. Have a full year of coursework remaining, and be enrolled and in residence for the entire school year.
  5. If not combined with coursework, scholarships are not given for online courses, research, internships, or practical training.
  6. Doctoral students who have completed coursework and are working only on dissertations are not eligible as first-time applicants.

Note: Upon completion of her degree program(s) or Optional Practical Training, an applicant will be required to complete and sign a document pledging to return to her home country or to a location outside the U.S. or Canada within sixty (60) days, depending on her visa status (O.P.T.). Age, race, national origin, religious affiliation, and disability will not be considered when evaluating the qualified applications.
