The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is a digital scholarship platform initiated by the Government of India to streamline the application and distribution process for various central and state government scholarships. It serves as a unified system, allowing students to apply for multiple scholarships, assess eligibility criteria, and track the progress of their applications.
The NSP extends scholarships to students belonging to economically weaker sections, minority communities, and those with disabilities, among other categories. It encompasses scholarships for pre-matric, post-matric, and merit-based categories at both national and state levels.
To access scholarships through the NSP, students must register on the portal, provide personal, academic, and banking details, and apply for scholarships aligning with their eligibility. Subsequently, the applications undergo verification and approval by the respective state or central government authorities, with the scholarship funds disbursed directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Benefits of the National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) provides a wide range of benefits to students in India, including:
- Centralized platform: The NSP offers a single-window system for students to apply for multiple scholarships from various central and state government bodies.
- Simplified application process: Students can apply for scholarships online, and the NSP provides step-by-step instructions for filling out the application forms.

5-Creating a transparent scholars’ database
6-Ensuring all scholarships are disbursed to students on time
